Description
Queer Climate Justice
As we celebrate April’s Sustainability Month, it is important to recognize that climate change will impact LGBTQIA individuals more severely than straight cis-gendered people (and will be compounded by the intersectionality factors of race and gender) but sustainability has always been connected to queerness. The interconnectedness of the two is illustrated by the green stripe in the pride flag, which symbolizes nature and growth. It signifies that being queer is part of nature’s design, and that queer people have a duty to support the environment. In this session, attendees will learn about queer climate justice, and be asked for their input on how it relates to UB’s Climate Action Plan.
