Alpha Chi Sigma
About
Alpha Chi Sigma is a national, professional, co-ed chemistry fraternity founded in 1902 with over 67,000 members, 52 collegiate chapters, 3 collegiate colonies, 9 professional chapters, and 9 professional groups. Among its notable members are Glenn Seaborg, Peter Debye, E. J. Corey, even Linus Pauling, the only person to have two Nobel prizes exclusively to himself.
The goals of Alpha Chi Sigma are simple: friendship and chemistry. To further this, brothers participate in many activities, such as demos for National Chemistry Week, and helping with merit badge day for Boy Scouts. Even though it is a professional organization for professionals, fun must be had once in a while, including trips to local attractions, like Bisons games, or Darien Lake. There is also a biannual national conclave held at any one of the 52 collegiate chapters university.
At Gamma Phi, UB's local student group, we focus on helping eachother through our difficult and tedius course work, as well as bonding together in the muddy pits of Ooze Fest.
Exciting things are happening this year with Gamma Phi and Alpha Chi Sigma!
