Alpha Sigma Tau

About

Alpha Sigma Tau is a national social sorority at UB since fall 2011.  The sorority strives to promote the ethical, cultural and social development of its members.  We are an everlAΣTing sisterhood!

On November 4, 1899, eight college women from Michigan State Normal College (now Eastern Michigan University) formed the Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

The founders included Helene Rice, Adriance Rice, Eva O'Keefe, Harriet Marx, May Gephart, Mayene Tracy, Mable Chase and Ruth Dutcher.

These eight women inspired a love and dedication to the Sorority, a torch that has been passed through the years.

Why do over 1,000 women join Alpha Sigma Tau each year? Because it is a fabulous place to make lifelong friends and have amazing experiences and it all begins with joining!

Alpha Sigma Tau provides each member with opportunities to build a fun social network and an important professional network through our growing membership. Our sisterhood values the contributions each member makes to our chapter experience.

In addition, we participate in many philanthropic events throughout the semester.  Some service projects we have participated in include making dinners for the families at the Ronald McDonald house, Habitat for Humanity, Relay for Life, the Linda Yalem Safety Run, Stay-Up UB, Walk With Me, Take Back the Night: March Against Domestic Violence, Buffalo News Kids Day, American Red Cross Blood Drive Sponsorship, and many more.
