The Cancer Pathology and Prevention Graduate Program draws its students from many different interests; Departments of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Epidemiology, Chemoprevention, and Health Behavior. All faculty members are well published and have an active role in education; many hold senior leadership positions at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
A wide range of cutting-edge research is ongoing within the Graduate Program, including innovative technologies in flow cytometry (one of the top facilities in the world), cytogenetics, molecular diagnostics, molecular pathology, genetic and epigenetic control of cancer, mechanism of chemoprevention, risk biomarkers, intervention trials, cancer epidemiology and survivalship, and molecular genetics of tobacco addiction.
The Cancer Prevention research portfolio at Roswell Park is highly regarded for its depth and breadth. The institutional philosophy at Roswell Park is built upon a collaborative foundation among laboratory scientists, prevention scientist and clinician scientists, thus providing students with excellent opportunities to be involved in translational (bench to bedside) research.
