Delta Phi Epsilon

Delta Phi Epsilon

About

Delta Phi Epsilon is an international sorority founded on March 17, 1917 at New York University Law School in Manhattan. University at Buffalo’s chapter of Delta Phi Epsilon, Gamma Eta, has been a part of campus since Spring 2010. We’re a group of trailblazing, courageous and bright individuals who have joined together under the motto of “esse quam videri” meaning “to be, rather than to seem to be.” We strive for justice, making our voices heard in even the hardest of situations. We create an empowered sisterhood through uplifting one another. We are bound by our love for each other and our communities. Regardless of your ethnicity, race, religion, background or experiences, you can find a home within the DPhiE sisterhood. Throughout your undergraduate experience, DPhiE will inspire and motivate you to become the best version of yourself.

Being DPhiE means to belong. Being DPhiE means to be authentically yourself.

HISTORY

In 1917, five bold and courageous women at New York University School of Law couldn’t find an inclusive organization that welcomed them. So, they decided to create their own. Determined to challenge the status quo, they envisioned a non-sectarian, inclusive sisterhood that would empower women to lead with integrity and purpose. These forward-thinking Founders redefined what a sorority could be, refusing to let society dictate their future. Over a century later, Delta Phi Epsilon remains true to its founding principles. More than just a home or friendship, DPhiE provides sisters with the empowerment to live authentic, purposeful lives.
