Global Health Interest Group
About
We are a group committed to serving the needs of less advantaged communities around the world. We have several components: education, global health trips, and research. In terms of education, we hold monthly meetings where physicians or group members speak about a particular area of global health or their experience serving communities around the world. We also are actively involved in educating students going on global health trips. Students from the medical school as well as faculty and providers from the community have historically gone on week-long medical missions to Haiti, Costa Rica, Panama, and the Dominican Republic. We also support students involved in research in global health particularly maternal-fetal health, malnutrition, and globally relevant health issues. We are always seeking further ideas for work in the area of global health and are looking to pursuing collaborations with other colleges within the University.
