McNair Scholars Program
About
The Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program at UB is a federally funded TRIO program sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education. It is named in honor of Dr. Ronald E. McNair, a pioneer African American astronaut who died in the 1986 Space Shuttle Challenger explosion.
The McNair program is designed to provide encouragement and services to low-income and first generation college students, and increase participation from underrepresented groups in pursuing doctoral study. U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status is required.
If you join the McNair program you will hone your research and analytical skills during the academic year through attendance at weekly seminars and participation in conferences. The program will also offer support for you to get ready for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and visit graduate schools and fairs.
