OUTLaw at UB School of Law

About

OUTLaw is the LGBTQ+ student organization at the University at Buffalo School of Law. Our mission is to foster a supportive and inclusive community for LGBTQ+ law students and their allies while promoting awareness and understanding of legal issues affecting the LGBTQ+ community. We strive to create opportunities for advocacy, education, and professional development by hosting events, workshops, and networking opportunities that empower our members and educate the broader law school community.

Our initiatives include:

  1. Community Building: We organize social gatherings, mentorship programs, and collaborative events to create a sense of belonging among LGBTQ+ students and allies.

  2. Advocacy and Awareness: OUTLaw works to highlight issues impacting the LGBTQ+ community through speaker panels, legal workshops, and participation in regional and national advocacy efforts.

  3. Professional Development: We connect members with LGBTQ+ professionals in the legal field, offering networking opportunities, career advice, and pathways to internships and employment.

  4. Support for Intersectionality: Recognizing the diversity within the LGBTQ+ community, OUTLaw is committed to addressing intersecting forms of discrimination and providing a platform for marginalized voices.

By engaging with OUTLaw, students gain access to resources, support, and a network of individuals passionate about advancing equality and justice. Together, we aim to create a law school environment that celebrates diversity and equips future legal professionals to champion LGBTQ+ rights.
